Introducing Kathryn Hechtel, PhD

Artificial Intelligence, Workflow Optimization, Software Integration

Kathryn Hechtel is an AI consultant based in Reno, Nevada, with a PhD in mathematics from the University of Kentucky. She specializes in crafting AI-driven tools and software solutions that optimize business processes and improve operational efficiency.

After completing her PhD, Kathryn founded TechFrontier AI Consulting, where she partners with businesses to address specific operational challenges including:

AI-Driven Business Operations
Resource Optimization
Streamlined Data Transfer
Process Efficiency
Private AI Deployment

The key isn’t just having access to an AI—it’s knowing when to use it, and when precision and reliability matter more. With a background in deep learning and optimization, Kathryn specializes in finding the right solution to the real problem.

One client now saves over 100 hours every month using a suite of tools she built: automatic report updates, optimized scheduling, and internal data transfers—all designed specifically for how their business works.

Another client brought Kathryn on to help shape their AI strategy—identifying high-impact use cases and evaluating the right models to train and deploy across their organization. The goal is always the same: real results that save time, reduce friction, and drive smarter decisions.

In 2023, Kathryn was selected by UCLA and the Zuse Institute of Berlin to participate in their G-RIPS research initiative. She was one of a team of mathematicians hired to optimize municipal electric bus schedules. Kathryn and her colleagues applied genetic and large neighborhood search algorithms to create bus schedules that deliver public transportation services at the lowest possible cost.

Kathryn is an active speaker at conferences and webinars focused on AI, cybersecurity, and applied mathematics. She recently presented on AI adoption and strategy at the Spring 2025 HTSA Conference and was a guest speaker for a webinar on AI in the construction industry hosted by TechEdge Dynamics. Her academic work includes an award-winning talk on skew-cyclic codes at Eastern Kentucky University and a presentation on skew-polynomials at the Joint Math Meetings in San Francisco.

Companies interested in exploring AI solutions are welcome to contact Kathryn at khechtel@techfrontierai.com.
